Why we recognize inventors
Most companies have a gap between the people running the business and the people shaping the technology.
The leaders on this list are different.
They are founders who still play an active role in what gets built. CTOs whose technical judgment shows up in the patent record. Chief scientists whose research becomes the foundation of a company. CXOs and technical leaders who help decide not just where the company goes, but what it protects.
The World IP Day Recognition Series highlights people whose contributions often stay behind the scenes.
Their work shows up in the products their companies ship, the patents they secure, and the markets they help shape.
We believe that kind of applied inventorship deserves to be seen.
How We Choose
Our selection process
The recognition is informed by patent activity, public records, company context, and editorial judgment. Here is how we approach it.
Identify active portfolios
We identify emerging companies with active and growing filing programs across the USPTO and major patent offices. We look for companies that are filing consistently, at a pace that stands out relative to their size.
Track top inventors
For each company, we review public patent records to identify the people who appear repeatedly as named inventors. These recurring names often point to the technical leaders who have had a direct hand in the technology being built.
Verify and research
We review each person's inventor footprint, professional background and public milestones to understand how their contribution connects to the company's innovation story.
Share the recognition
Each recognized innovator then receives a dedicated page covering their inventor footprint, company context, technology focus, and the ideas they helped build or protect.
